Subscription and Refund Terms
Last updated: 25 September 2026
These terms form part of our Terms of Service and apply to every purchase of a Scrutineer subscription.
1. What you are buying
A Scrutineer subscription unlocks scanning. Free access, where offered, is limited — the current free allowance is shown in the app before you scan.
Plans are offered as weekly, monthly and annual subscriptions. The plans available to you, their exact prices in your local currency, and the billing period are shown in the app on the purchase screen before you confirm. That screen is the authoritative statement of price.
2. How payment works
Purchases are made through the App Store. Apple takes the payment and charges the payment method on your Apple account. We never see your card details, billing address or Apple ID.
Payment is charged at confirmation of purchase. Prices include taxes where Apple is required to collect them.
3. Automatic renewal
Your subscription renews automatically. Apple charges the renewal to your payment method within 24 hours of the end of the current period, at the price for your plan at that time, and this continues until you cancel.
4. How to cancel
Cancel in your Apple account settings: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Scrutineer → Cancel Subscription. You can also manage it in the App Store app.
Cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends, or the next period will be charged.
Cancelling stops future charges. Your access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
5. Price changes
If we change the price of a plan, Apple will notify you and, where required, ask you to agree before the new price takes effect. If you do not agree, the subscription will not renew at the new price.
6. Refunds
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple, not by us. We cannot issue, approve or refuse a refund for a subscription bought through the App Store.
To request one, use reportaproblem.apple.com, or Settings → your name → Media & Purchases → View Account → Purchase History on your device. Apple decides these requests under its own policies.
If Apple declines and you believe you are entitled to a remedy under consumer law, contact us at support@usescrutineer.com and we will consider it and help where we can.
7. Your rights if something goes wrong
Australia. Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. If the service is not supplied with due care and skill, or is unfit for its stated purpose, you may be entitled to a remedy, including a refund for a major failure.
EEA and UK. You have a statutory right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days. Because digital content is supplied immediately, you are asked to consent to immediate supply when you subscribe, and doing so means you lose the right of withdrawal once supply has begun. You also have statutory rights if the service does not conform to what was described.
Everywhere else. Your local consumer law rights are unaffected by these terms.
8. Fair use
Scanning is subject to rate limits, which exist because each scan costs us money to run. The limits are set well above normal use. We may pause analysis temporarily during an outage or to control abuse; if that materially deprives you of the service you paid for, contact us.
9. If you delete your account
Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it in your Apple settings first, or you will continue to be charged.
